Healthy Swaps for a Healthy Life

Avoiding any food altogether (unless there is an allergy) is not a practical and inclusive way to eat. Remember, a healthy relationship with food is key!

Rather than restricting yourself and avoiding certain foods you enjoy, try adding something healthy to your meals. I’m here to help! Here are some quick, easy to implement swaps that will change your eating habits for good.

Instead of avoiding pasta, add some veggies to your sauce.

Try adding some fresh diced tomatoes, olives, or even some chopped spinach to your sauce of choice. Adding onion and garlic not only adds beneficial nutrients, it brightens up the flavour of any sauce.

Instead of using coffee creamer, try a homemade coffee creamer.

When making anything at home, you can be sure it’s free of fillers and additives found in many store bought products. Make your own homemade coffee creamer! Combine coconut milk whole, maple syrup or honey, and a dash of vanilla extract for those additive-free lattes!

Don’t avoid chocolate – add some nuts and seeds to make a balanced trail mix.

Dark chocolate is antioxidant rich! Add some nuts, seeds and organic raisins to create the ultimate healing snack.

Instead of avoiding fries, make sweet potato fries instead.

Sweet potatoes are so good for you! They’re high in fiber and antioxidants, which protect your body from free radical damage and promote a healthy gut and brain.

Stop depriving yourself of a sweet sparkling beverage like soda – swap for kombucha.

Kombucha is filled with probiotics that is so good for the gut and brain. Can’t seem to quit the sugar? Check out my Body Joy Sugar Repair program! It has everything you need to ditch sugar in an easy-to-follow 6-week program.
